My background and Goals
I was born in Varkaus and moved to Vuosaari at East Helsinki when I was one year old, where I lived with my mother and two sisters until I was 18. Growing up in a single-parent household brought many challenges, but despite these obstacles, I was able to move forward in life largely thanks to the opportunities provided by work. At 15, I started working as a magazine salesperson, and soon after, I began instructing group fitness classes. Group fitness instruction has been a part of my life ever since that first class, and even now, I continue to teach alongside my studies, though nowadays as an entrepreneur.
Work has always been both a means of personal development and a tool for freedom. The mental and tangible resources provided by work create a vision for the future and offer the opportunity to build a life on one's own terms. The chance for young people to learn through work is invaluable. Businesses create jobs, and that's why entrepreneurship is a central part of my political thinking. Work and entrepreneurship are the cornerstones of society and well-being. They must be at the core of both municipal and national politics.
I attended elementary and secondary school, as well as part of my high school, in Vuosaari. At the time, I didn't feel that finishing high school was feasible for me, so I temporarily set my studies aside and started building my life on my own terms. I later graduated from Eira Adult High School and went on to study molecular biosciences at the University of Helsinki, followed by translational medicine. Currently, I am writing my master's thesis related to the rehabilitation of multiple sclerosis (MS) disease. A solid foundation in education, built from childhood, made it possible for me to return to studying after several gap years. High-quality comprehensive education provides a strong foundation for lifelong learning and well-being, and is crucial for the future of our entire society.
At 18, I moved to Greece for a longer period and later lived in Australia and England. As an adult, I've lived in various parts of Helsinki, mainly in the city center in Töölö and Kaivopuisto, but also in Oulunkylä and Konala. Having lived in various neighborhoods in Helsinki and around the world, I've had the opportunity to experience many different living environments, which allows me to view our city from different perspectives. I genuinely believe in Helsinki's potential to be the best place to live for its residents, both now and in the future. My goal is for all Helsinki residents to have the opportunity to live and develop on their own terms, regardless of where they live in the city.
